As an Assistant to the Bishop, I’ve gotten to work on a lot more projects than just sermons.

https://www.youtube.com/@scsynod/featured will link you to the South Carolina Synod YouTube channel, which has lots of videos worth watching.

One project I’m particularly proud of is my Lutheran FAQ series.

When I was a parish pastor, I learned how many people needed a refresher in the Lutheran lens of Christianity. Some of them had married Lutherans, but never gotten a solid handle on what made Lutherans different from Baptists or Methodists. Some folks hadn’t taken any confirmation classes in a few years or decades and wanted a reminder. They weren’t always able to commit to a regular schedule, and they didn’t want to come hang out with the middle school crowd. There were also some people needed decent Sunday School material that required no preparation.

My answer: Lutheran FAQ, or Frequently Asked Questions. They’re short videos. They cover a lot of topics that newer Lutherans might be curious about. And they’re fun to film!

I’d like to give credit to the amazing Neal Fischer. He’s the Director of Communications for the South Carolina Synod, and he takes these videos from a script to a finished project. I just show up and ramble, and then make a worksheet. He edits, adds graphics, and gets everything posted well.

These videos have gotten feedback from South Carolina, North Dakota, and places in between. It’s been a blessing to support the church this way. Let me know what questions you have!
